I have no experience at all but I would like to try motor cruising:
- Step 1: Helmsman course - 2 days
- Step 2: First Aid course - 1 day
I want to become proficient at skippering a boat in familiar waters during daylight hours so that I can take my family and friends out, knowing that they are all safe in my hands:
- Step 1: Helmsman course - 2 days
- Step 2: Day Skipper Theory - 6 days or 3 weekends
- Step 3: VHF/Radar/First Aid - 1 day each
- Step 4: Day Skipper Practical - 5 days (automatic ICC entitlement)
I want to charter a boat in the Mediterranean for my holiday each year:
- Step 1: Helmsman course - 2 days
- Step 2: VHF/Radar/First Aid - 1 day each
- Step 3: Day Skipper Theory - 6 days or 3 weekends
- Step 4: ICC assessment - 1 day
I've been cruising for some years now and I want to start venturing further afield; perhaps cross the channel or try new marinas around the coast:
- Step 1: Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory - 6 days or 3 weekends
- Step 2: VHF/Radar/First Aid - 1 day each (if not already held)
- Step 3: Coastal Skipper Practical - 5 days
I want to gain an advanced certificate of competence which recognizes my abilities as an advanced skipper wherever I may be piloting my boat:
- Step 1: Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory - 6 days or 3 weekends
- Step 2: VHF/Radar/First Aid - 1 day each (if not already held)
- Step 3: Build Mileage/Experience minimum to requirements
- Step 4: Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster prep course - 4 days
- Step 5: RYA/MCA independent examination - 1 day approx
If you have had your own boat for some time and wish to brush up on certain techniques, or you've decided to change from sail to power, or perhaps you have a new crew member who would benefit from some time with an instructor, then simply contact us at the Sea School and we will arrange for one of our fully qualified RYA instructors to spend time with you, covering the aspects that are particularly important to you.
